Privacy policy

Last updated 17 October 2026

This policy explains what information HUBBUB holds about you and why. In short: we collect as little as we can, we never sell your data, and we never share it with anyone for their own purposes.

Who is responsible for your data

Emma Clarke Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 03473668), Beehive Loft, Beehive Mill, Jersey Street, Manchester, M4 6JG, is the data controller. Contact: hello@hubbub-music.com.

Institution licences: if you join HUBBUB through a university, conservatoire or other organisation, its HUBBUB contact can see your email address and when you joined, and can remove you from its licence. They can't see your scores. If the licence ends, your scores stay yours, read-only unless you have your own plan.

Inviting editors: if you invite someone to edit a score, they can open and change that score once they sign in with the address you invited. They see your email address in the invitation and next to the score. You can remove them at any time, and they can leave.

Sharing a score: if you create a view-only link to a score, anyone who has the link can view that score, play along with it and print its parts, without signing in. They see what's in the score, but not your email address or anything else from your account. You can switch a link off at any time, and it stops working straight away.

What we don't collect: we don't use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, and we don't build profiles of you. Recordings you add to a play-along video are processed only in your own browser and are never uploaded to us.

Who we never share with

We never sell your data. We never share it with advertisers, data brokers or anyone else for their own purposes. We never use your scores to train artificial intelligence.

The services that run HUBBUB

Like almost every online service, HUBBUB relies on a few specialist companies. They handle your data only on our instructions, only to run HUBBUB, and under contracts that protect it.

Some of these providers may process data outside the UK, for example in the United States. Where they do, the transfer is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Agreement.

We would only disclose your information to anyone else if the law required us to, for example to comply with a court order.

How long we keep it

Your rights

You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to receive a copy in a portable format, or to object to how we use it. You can withdraw consent to news emails at any time using the link in any email or in your account. Email hello@hubbub-music.com and we'll respond within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, please tell us first. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Children

HUBBUB accounts are for people aged 18 and over, including teachers using HUBBUB through a school's licence. The only exception is pupil accounts that a school sets up through a child-safe school licence.

For pupil accounts, the school decides how pupils' information is used, and we act only on its instructions, under a data processing agreement with the school. Pupil accounts never receive news or marketing emails, can't create public links, can't make payments, and can only edit scores with people at their own school. The school's staff can download a pupil's scores or delete their account at any time, and pupil accounts are deleted automatically after the school's licence ends.

Pupils can also follow scores in the HUBBUB viewer, which needs no account and doesn't collect personal information.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that affects you, we'll email you before the change takes effect.
