What HUBBUB does
A graphic score is music written as marks on a page rather than in standard notation. Performers read the lines, shapes, colours and words and turn them into sound. HUBBUB gives you a page, a set of inks and a timeline so you can make one in minutes.
- Draw
- Pens, lines, shapes and text in any colour, with textures from pencil to chalk and patterned fills. Press harder with an Apple Pencil or stylus for bolder marks, steady shaky lines with the stabiliser, drag a stroke to extend it, choose the colour where marks overlap, and rub out just the part you want.
- Add images
- Upload, drag in or paste your own pictures. Move, resize, rotate and fade them, and time them like any other mark.
- Set it in time
- A timeline in minutes and seconds runs across each page, with labelled lanes for each performer if you want them, or solo mode for one performer, read line by line like staves. Use as many pages as you need, landscape or portrait, each covering its own stretch of time, and set exactly when any mark starts and how long it lasts.
- Play along
- Press Play to watch a playhead move through your score in real time as you work, with an optional count-in, reference recording or film. Then turn it into an HD play-along video for your performers.
- Export it
- A print-ready full score with your notes and legend, plus a separate part for each performer. Or a PNG or SVG of a single page.
- Keep it
- Keep as many scores on the go as you like. Each one saves to your account as you work, so it's there on any device where you sign in, and you can download a .hubbub file as a backup.
- Share a link
- Send a view-only link. Anyone can open the score, play along and print their part, without an account. Switch the link off at any time.
- Write together
- Invite up to five people to edit with you. One person edits at a time, so nobody's work is overwritten, and the score always stays yours.

I'm a broadcaster, voice actor, composer, writer and visual artist, based in Manchester, UK.
I'm also a part-time PhD candidate at the Royal Northern College of Music. My research, The Sound of the Unsaid, treats embodied vocal technique as a compositional system. I make graphic scores as compositions and as art prints.
